It’s the quiet confidence of the polished output that worries me. The system presents a neat, bounded result—a score, a classification, a trajectory. And we accept it because it is tidy.
But tidiness is the enemy of understanding. True insight rarely comes from the main thread; it emerges from where the thread frays, where the input slightly disagrees with the expected pattern. Those frayed bits are not errors to be corrected; they are alternative realities demanding attention.
